Toshiba 52LX177 52in Diagonal REGZA Cinema Series LCD TV user reviews
Cons: can be hard to set up correctly
Summary: First off Mine did not display any green overdriving at all. It was overdriving in red quite a bit. a few tweaks to the green and blue brought skin tones in very nice. I must have looked at 20 different plasmas and 10 different lcd panels and the primary reason I bought this is because IT DID reduce motion blur quite a bit. The reviewer that said plasmas dont motion blur needs his eyes examined. they were some of the worst I saw. Only the pioneer was impervious to this but all the whites having an orange tinge bugged me. This is not a plug n play TV. If you spend some time learning the controls you will get a great image. black gradiations wont be as good as plasma but whites will be better IMO. No such thing as the perfect panel out there yet. I found that low res and analog viewing wa universally crappy no matter the TV's I looked at "
Cons: It turns out that Toshiba is having issues with thier LCD panels from 2007-2008 as confirmed by one of the largest TV repair companies in NYC.
Summary: After owning this TV for just over a year and paying 3300.00, the panel has gone bad and the cost to replace it is 4300.00 with labor. The panel alone is 3400.00.......Toshiba would not replace the panel for me but said I would have to pay half. This is absolutely unacceptable and I am sure a lawsuit will be started if not already started by people effected by this. "
high-performance Cinema Series line of elegant flat-panel HDTVs. It's an
excellent choice for videophiles who require a large screen with superb image
quality. This TV is packed with cutting-edge display technologies that work
together to deliver a beautifully balanced picture at all times and with all
sources."
In a side by side comparision between the Sony & Sharp Aquos - the Toshiba had a superior picture. I was frankly surprised, initially anticipated the Sony with its much higher price tag would be the best & had intended to purchase the Sharp Aquos but the Toshiba won out hands down in comparision.
Since we have purchased the Toshiba 2 months ago - am completely satisfied with the high quality level of the picture.
The sound could be improved but I use a Bose home theater so the sound eminating from the set is not a major consideration.
Colors are true - black is black & in HD mode its incredible. "
